Whoa!!! (and photos)
Thanks Tim I thought you might like that one.
As for the others, yes I'm sorry, you're all experts in international politics and history, I'm very impressed by your knowledge of it all and I'm suitably ashamed of my terrible crimes of letting my friends and family know how my last few weeks were. But how cowardly is it to launch personal attacks against someone on the internet? Someone mentioned something about taking grains of salt. Maybe these people taking me way too seriously need a few. Unfortunately I've had to take the comment option off these posts for a while until these people go away. I think we all need a good gym session and some protein.

Don't worry mate! These guys all look like they have an axe to grind... And I am sure they will be right in there doing some of their own blood letting once Revolution MkII begins...
The attitudes displayed here are a blearing example about why the place is such a screw up. Maybe Cuba is the perfect example of why things don't work....the ideas that socialism is based upon are pure and perfect unfortunately PEOPLE have to live in this system... need I say more?

Nickos,
I think you will have to cut alot of the commenters some slack. Losing loved ones or being exiled from one's homeland tends to make one a bit... doctrinaire. In short: it's hard to be ambivalent about the system that tortured your father. And following up with 'lighten up guys' just rubs salt in the wound.
Seriously, if you want to extol the virtues of Castro in a public forum you must expect to be called on it. You painted a rosy and very simplistic picture of a country where real freedom is either a distant memory or an impossible hope.
The truth is not an axe for grinding, it is a light for others who will not have the opportunity to see what you see, and to hear what you hear. Your friends and family probably deserve better - the citizens of Cuba certainly do.

My goodness Tim, what a load of bollocks!
a) This is not a public forum, I repeat not a FORUM. It is my diary of what I have observed.
b) If people (obese americans glued to their computers) have a problem with Cuban history let them have their rant elsewhere. I have far more sympathy for the millions around the world with murdered families as a result of the US.
c) Of course it was a rosy picture, this is not a history lesson, it was what I saw and spoke to people about, anyone who takes what they read on the internet seriously probably thinks the moon landing actually happened (or not...woooo).
d) I think my friends and family are more intelligent than to take what I say too seriously and definitely deserve better than a ridiculous debate by some hot headed yanks when they try and keep in touch with where I am.
So please no more lectures on the duties of a blogger.
ps. Go China!!
